Big Brothers Big Sisters hosting bowling fun to support mentoring Macomb County youth

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit is coming out to Macomb County for the first annual Macomb County Bowling Extravaganza to raise money for a great cause, all while bowling and celebrating Halloween!  Big Brothers Big Sisters provides youth facing adversity with a safe, strong and enduring professionally-supported one-to-one relationships that positively impact their lives. 

Currently, 8% of the 1,200 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit’s mentees (“Littles”) are youth from Macomb County. However, there is the potential for much more participation in programs for Macomb County serving children from ages 7 to 17.

Enjoy a great family atmosphere, food, and the company of some amazing people who may live right next door. Also, it’s that spooky time of the year so feel free to celebrate Halloween early and bowl in your costume!

The extravaganza fundraiser takes place Friday, October 25, 2013 and Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Sterling Lanes, located at 33200 Schoenherr Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48312. The fundraiser will kick-off Friday, October 25th, from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. withfun-filled family glow bowling. Bring the entire family for some spooky glow in the dark fun on the lanes. The fun continues into Saturday, October 26th, for an afternoon open bowl for all ages from 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.!

This will be a great event to bring the community together and help young people achieve their greatness and grow into outstanding young men and women. Friday night is open to all families and friends who raise $29.95 to reserve their lane, to register visit The Saturday event is open to all who raise $100 in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit. Outreach to Macomb County is essential for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit as the agency continues to grow and service the youth of metropolitan Detroit.

Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel is a member of the Board of Directorsat Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit and encourages all to attend and support the programs and services offered by the Agency through both community and site-based programs.

The funds raised through this extravaganza event go directly toward pairing youth in our community with a mentor who shares like interest and who has committed to serve as a positive role model, providing encouragement, support and instilling confidence in their ability to achieve their short and long-term goals.
