The Macomb County Department of Planning and Economic Development (MCPED) is a diverse department that is often a catchall for various information. Do you need an aerial map? We’ve got it. Are you looking for ways to grow your business? We can help. Want to get connected to Lake St. Clair tourism opportunities? We are your people. Need to know your city’s demographics? Ask us. If we can’t help, we can refer you to someone who can.
Whether you are a business, municipality or resident, chances are you may one day cross our path. In fact, you already have. MCPED works closely with County Executive Mark A. Hackel’s marketing initiative Make Macomb Your Home, of which this website is a part.
Macomb County recently obtained national recognition when it was awarded eight National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Awards. Awards were given to counties across America who have implemented innovative programs that modernize county government practices and increase services to residents. An award was given to MCPED for its involvement with the Make Macomb Your Home marketing campaign.
This campaign is realized in several capacities such as advertisement efforts, merchandise and the creation of this website. It emphasizes the aspects that make Macomb a great place to live, play and do business. By branding Macomb County and highlighting important assets, the campaign aims to retain and attract residents, visitors and businesses.
Not just a promotional tool, this campaign is also a practical resource for residents and visitors. MakeMacombYourHome.com consolidates a lot of useful information into one handy, user-friendly website. Take a look around and you will see material about housing, schools, health care facilities, employment opportunities, community events, farmers markets, breweries and even where you can adopt your next pet.
The county spans 482-square miles and is home to 854,000 residents (yes, I asked one of our MCPED planners for this demographical data), and somehow, this website manages to bring us all together. Make Macomb Your Home is working to help raise awareness about what the county has to offer while at the same time keeping us all connected and informed.
