The Macomb Center hosts a beloved holiday classic in Macomb County

Macomb Center Pic One of the highlights of my holiday season this year was a recent visit to the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts to see the Macomb Ballet Company’s delightful production of The Nutcracker. Held at an amazing venue, my visit to see The Nutcracker reminded me that Macomb County houses a great jewel with the Macomb Center. Together with the Albert L. Lorenzo Cultural Center, these organizations offer our community so much beauty and culture.

Located in Clinton Township, the Macomb Center boasts a tremendous auditorium that seats 1,200 people. The lobby and reception area are lovely, bright and welcoming. Once I entered the auditorium, I noticed the comfort of the seating, and from my vantage point in the balcony, I had a great view of the stage and the performers.

TMacomb Centerhe Nutcracker is a beloved holiday tradition for many in Macomb County and the Macomb Ballet Company did a formidable job of bringing the timeless classic to life. The performance featured elevating and joyful music, gorgeous costumes and the sweet and whimsical children who were part of the production made it all the more touching and moving. All in all, it was a stunning and breathtaking display of dance and artistic movement.

After the show, I met with Sandy Hazelton-Pianko, sales and marketing manager for the Macomb Center, who told me about all the great things that are happening at the Macomb Center. For those of you in the holiday spirit, the Detroit Concert Choir is performing A Joyful Christmas on Dec. 21. Also, there are so many outstanding performances coming up in 2015 that I could not list every single one, but some of the upcoming highlights are Cinderella presented by the Russian National Ballet Theatre on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015 and I Love Lucy Live On Stage, on Saturday, Jan. 17 and Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015. On Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 Jim Belushi and the Board of Comedy take the stage, and on April 18, 2015 the Macomb Center is featuring Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr. presented by All the World’s A Stage, a theatre arts education organization based in Macomb County.
