Returning for its fifth year, the McLaren Let’s Move Festival of Races is an event we at McLaren Macomb are proud to sponsor. We share a common goal – the promotion of active and healthy lifestyles and ensuring that each and every member of the community has a way to pursue one.
As a healthcare provider, it is essential that McLaren Macomb help grow the community’s health and wellness interests and opportunities.
And grown it has!
In just its fifth year, the McLaren Let’s Move Festival of Races has seen year-over-year increases in participation and – new this year – it has grown in stature as the county’s premier health and wellness event and is now offering its first FULL marathon along with the One Mile River Walk and Kids Last Mile to engage all ages and levels of fitness and to encourage families to participate.
But of course, there’s more than just the races. The Health and Fitness Expo, which begins the Thursday prior to race day, features live entertainment, meals, demonstrations of various exercise techniques and more.
“It’s really something when you see how well the community responds to an event like this,” said Kelley Lovati, community relations coordinator, McLaren Macomb. “This is now our fifth year with the Festival of Races, and to see it grow the way it has is truly inspiring.”
Alongside the community involvement, we’re so proud to see our McLaren Macomb employees setting a great example and participating in the event through Team McLaren.
Coordinated by the McLaren Macomb Athletic Medicine Institute, McLaren Macomb opened up registration to sponsor 50 employees in whichever event they choose to run – from the full marathon to the One Mile River Walk and Kids Last Mile. (Spots that filled up fast!)
“We are very encouraged at the way McLaren Macomb employees responded,” said Jeaninne Hurst, MS, AT/ATC, coordinator, McLaren Macomb Athletic Medicine Institute. “This just shows that they are truly supportive of the overall goals of the Festival of Races and the hospital.”
Team McLaren has representation from all areas of the hospital – physicians, residents, nursing, clerical, volunteer, administrative and support staff – a fact we’re immensely proud of.
Dave Jones is the media relations representative at McLaren Macomb. He is also a member of Team McLaren and will be running in the Festival of Races. The event takes place on April 25 in downtown Mount Clemens. For more information on the event, visit http://www.letsmovefestival.com/.
