Sterling Heights Farmers Market to open on June 4

Farmers marketThere are many benefits to shopping at a local farmers market, which is why we wanted to establish one in Sterling Heights. Supporting local is an important issue to both business owners and consumers because they see value in it. Many people desire to know where their food originated from. Shopping at your local farmers markets provides you with a great selection of local products and you get to meet the farmers/producers firsthand. It’s rewarding to give money to a person that worked hard to provide them with something essential. Buying direct from the producer allows you to recompense them fairly for their work and often it’s a better deal for you because you’ve left out the middle man.
By supporting your local farmers markets you’re supporting your local economy. By most definitions, the term local allows a 100-mile radius from your home to acquire goods and services and still be considered local. That gives you a lot of options if you think about it!

Farmers market 1In particular, The Dodge Park Farmers Market is important to Sterling Heights because it brings a sense of community to the heart of our city and gives everyone a chance to buy Michigan locally-grown products. Businesses are provided with an opportunity to meet with people to not only sell their products but to establish themselves as a member of the community. Additionally, the market will help create a destination for families to come enjoy the park and find out what the city has to offer and, most importantly, it gives the city another chance to give back to the community.

We’re looking forward to a great market season and meeting all of you!
