Although the summer months are upon us and the weather outside is getting increasingly warmer, the McLaren Macomb Walking Clubs at Macomb Mall and Lakeside Mall still present the opportunities for those attending to get exercise, gather socially and benefit from the exclusive presentations made by McLaren Macomb physicians and medical professionals.
Offering a safe and secure (not to mention air-conditioned) atmosphere in which to promote an active lifestyle and maintain fitness, the Mall Walking Clubs are free to join and meet weekly – Mondays at Macomb Mall in Roseville and Wednesdays at Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights.
“I really enjoy seeing out walkers each week as they dedicate part of their day to maintaining a healthy lifestyle,” said Kelley Lovati, McLaren Macomb Community Relations Coordinator. “It’s also a great opportunity to socialize with others who share the desire to be heart healthy and ward off arthritis from inactive lifestyles. It’s always exciting to see the program grow with new members joining all the time.”
Every month, practicing physicians or other medical professionals from McLaren Macomb arrive onsite to lead presentations – and take questions from attendees – on various topics that are of particular interest.
Topics include how to handle headaches from a neurologist, diabetes maintenance from a family medicine doctor, common skin issues with a dermatologist and even the benefits of volunteering from McLaren Macomb’s volunteer services, along with many more.
“These are issues that have a direct impact on the lives of many of our members,” Lovati said. “To have direct, convenient access to McLaren Macomb medical professionals is an opportunity they really appreciate.”
Free to join and offered all year around, those interested can sign up to join the clubs online at mclaren.org/macomb or show up to one of the gathers to register.
