1 – Fishflies have returned to the Anchor Bay area just in time for this year’s Bay-Rama Fishfly Festival. The 2016 festival kicks off its five-day run in downtown New Baltimore on June 22. Organizers have packed even more entertainment into the 52nd annual summer festival and are inviting area families to come out and “Capture the Fun.” This year’s festival is expected to include new rides, games and entertainment. 2 – Historic Downtown Utica is hosting their annual River Walk Festival beginning Thursday, June 23 and running through Sunday, June 26! There will be a beer tent, carnival, fireworks, food vendors, live daily entertainment and the opportunity to rent kayaks or canoes and paddle the Clinton River. 3 – Beginning 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, the city of Richmond will be offering a summer concert series in the park. This Thursday is big band music by New Horizon Band. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the beautiful weather and live music. www.cityofrichmond.net
4 – Nothing brings children together like a little friendly competition. Which is why, in honor of World Refugee Day, a group of local organizations have come together to sponsor the Friendship Games, a one-day youth soccer tournament, on Saturday, June 25. Children ages 6-14 are eligible to participate and will each receive a free T-shirt, participation award, snacks and water. The tournament will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Delia Park in Sterling Heights. Registration for this free event closes on June 22, so make sure you register your child as soon as possible. 5 – Mark your calendars for Macomb’s Most Incredible Fireworks Show sponsored by First State Bank! This event is scheduled for Friday, June 24 at dusk at St. Clair Shores’ Veterans Memorial Park.
