1 – Come to Freedom Hill to celebrate the 10th annual Stars and Stripes Festival from Thursday, June 30 through Sunday, July 3. The festival is free and features several national and local bands. The national headliners include Styx, Uncle Kracker and Seether. The festival also has many attractions including an art fair, BMX show, carnival rides, pig racing, a petting zoo, and fireworks. The festival is from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and is from noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Over 500,000 people are expected to attend this festival throughout the weekend. 2 – Lake St. Clair Metropark is hosting their annual Fireworks show on Friday, July 1 at dusk (approximately 10 p.m.). A $15 special event pass will be required to enter the park on this day, unless you have an annual permit. Prior to the fireworks, Holy Ghost Tent Revival will play on the beach front from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the mobile stage. Additionally, Simple Adventures Paddlesport Rental is offering kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals for the fireworks! 3 – Head to MacRay Harbor in Harrison Township for their Fourth of July Fireworks Show! Relax on your boat, or anchor out front and watch one of the best firework displays on the lake! Fourth of July parking passes must be picked up at the Member Services office by July 2. Limit two per well. Fireworks will take place around 10:15 p.m.
4 – This Thursday, June 30 visit the Sterling Heights Dodge Park Farmer’s Market! The market provides a timeless atmosphere for families and shoppers alike. Kids have the opportunity to stay and play in the children’s corner every week. You can arrive early and stay late for one of our many special events, including the “Music in the Park” concert series in June, July and August. Have you ever wondered where your meat and vegetables come from? Now you will have the opportunity to meet and talk with your market growers and artisans each week to provide only the freshest, juiciest, Michigan made products. 5 – Wednesday, July 6 is “Park it Family Fun Night” in St. Clair Shores at Veteran’s Memorial Park. Join in the fun with a night in the community! Bring blankets and chairs and even the kids! The music starts at 7 p.m. and the movie “Minions” will be playing at 9:15 p.m. http://www.parkitforfun.com/
