Macomb County’s Weekly Top 5

1 – Metro Boat Show at Lake St. Clair Metropark
The seventh annual Metro Boat Show runs Sept. 15-18, is an in-water boat show with boats up to 56-feet in length on display and for sale at great end-of-season prices. The show is expanding this year into the North Marina after filling the South Marina at Lake St. Clair Metropark. Boats featured include new and previously owned fishing boats, sailboats, cruisers, yachts, pontoon boats, personal watercraft, ski and wakeboard boats, canoes, kayaks and paddleboards. Hundreds of boats will be in water and on-land making this event a great place to shop for end-of-season deals from quality yacht brokers and dealers. Live music, with new local bands added to the lineup, will entertain patrons in the Tiki Bar. Smokin’ on the Beach, the second annual smoked meats competition; Michigan-made craft brews at the beer tents; and a Kid’s Zone with face painting, RC boats, bounce houses and more will all also be at the event.


2 – Rockin’ the Shores Music & Beer Festival
Rockin’ the Shores presented by Roy O’Brien Ford, 22201 E. 9 Mile Road in St. Clair Shores, is a daylong event on Saturday, Sept. 17 celebrating great music and beer! The event will feature some of Michigan’s finest bands including The Muggs, an American blues rock band from Detroit and Brian Vander Ark from The Verve Pipe best known for their hits, “The Freshman” and “Photograph.” Detroit’s home brewed band, Sponge, known for their hits “Plowed,” “Molly (16 Candles Down the Drain)” and “Have you Seen Mary?” will headline the event. Atwater Brewery and Baffin Brewing Company will feature a variety of beer to either sample or buy by the glass.

Over 1,000 bicyclists are expected to participate in the Ride to Rockin’ the Shores to benefit Kids Without Cancer. The ride will conclude at Rockin’ the Shores at 1 p.m. for the Atwater Brewery tapping of the keg ceremony.

3 – Romeo 2 Richmond Race
The Annual Romeo 2 Richmond Race will be held on Sunday, Sept. 18 along the Macomb Orchard Trail. Events include a half marathon, a half marathon relay and a 5k run/walk. Proceeds benefit the Macomb Food Program & Medals4Mettle. For more information and to register for the race, visit


4 – Mount Clemens Farmer’s Market Tater & Pork Roast
This weekend’s cool weather will be perfect for the Mount Clemens Farmer’s Market Tater & Pork Roast on Saturday, Sept. 17. Enjoy fresh, locally-grown potatoes, roasted to perfection with all the fixings – butter, bacon bits and sour cream. Serving will start at approximately 9 a.m. until they are sold out. Stahl’s Market will have delicious pulled pork sandwiches hot off the grill! Head to Downtown Mount Clemens for some fall fun!


5 – New Baltimore Lions Classic Cruise In Car Show
Classic car enthusiasts are invited to cruise their vintage vehicles into Walter and Mary Burke Park on Sunday, Sept. 18 to help raise funds for more than a dozen charities supported by the New Baltimore Lions Club. The New Baltimore Lions Classic Cruise is scheduled to run from noon to 5 p.m. at n the city’s waterfront park. Music, food and raffles will also be a part of the event.

Classic car owners have the opportunity to win awards such as People’s Choice and Lions Club President’s Choice. Awards will be presented at 4 p.m. The first 100 cars registered will receive dash plaques. Participants can also register from 10 a.m. to noon on the day of the event for $15.

Proceeds from the classic cruise in will benefit roughly 15 charities. Last year’s cruise drew 88 classic cars downtown. The Lions Club is hoping to draw 100 vehicles to the park this year.
