1 – 2nd Annual Autumn Art & Wine Walk
Travel through Romeo for wine tastings, appetizers and local art during the second annual Autumn Art & Wine Walk from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 7. The event is sponsored by the Romeo Downtown Development Authority, Starkweather Arts Center and the Greater Romeo Washington Chamber of Commerce. Attendees can begin their stroll at the chamber, 228 N. Main St. in Romeo. They can receive a “passport” to have stamped at participating merchants, which makes them eligible for prizes. The event also will serve as the first day of the $99 Art Auction at Starkweather. It will end at 4 p.m. Oct. 22. The silent auction will benefit the art center’s building preservation fund.


2 – Oktoberfest with the Mount Clemens Rotary
On Saturday, Oct. 8, the Mount Clemens Rotary will host its annual Oktoberfest Celebration at the Carpathia Club in Sterling Heights. The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and will feature cold seasonal beer, authentic German food, live entertainment and raffles. The entry fee is $25 per person and includes one beer and one food voucher.


3 – 5th Annual Pick a Pyro Pumpkin Patch
Join Pyro Art Glass, 123 South Main Street, on Oct. 8 and 9 for their annual fall event. Stroll through their covered outdoor pumpkin patch where they will have over 1,000 hand-blown glass pumpkins and gourds. Their artists will be doing free glass-blowing demonstrations throughout the day and hot cider and donuts will be served while supplies last. This is always a great family-friendly event and is free. 4 – Weekend Warrior Run Fest
The Weekend Warrior Runfest is a country music-themed race that takes place on Sunday, Oct. 9 in scenic River Bends Park located in Shelby Township. The race is sponsored by 99.5 WYCD and offers runners and walkers a choice of three USA Track and Field-certified events: 10k, 5k and 1 mile! Runners will experience a great fall race in Michigan on the newly paved Iron Belle Trail. After the race, feel free to picnic or tailgate with other runners and enjoy the park! Register online at


5 – Columbus Day Parade
The Italian-American community will host its annual Columbus Day Parade on Main Street in downtown Mount Clemens on Saturday, Oct. 8. This year’s parade honoring historic Italian explorer and navigator Christopher Columbus will be a bigger and better celebration with surprises for all. There will be musical groups, floats, various clubs and units from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office. Spectators can expect a lot of free stuff given out by those in the parade.

The Columbus Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. The parade route will be along Main Street, starting at Church Street and ending at Market Street, and will be followed by an afterglow and awards ceremony at Fern Hill Country Club, 17600 Clinton River Road in Clinton Township. The event will also feature a pizza eating contest and a cannoli eating contest sponsored by local Italian eateries.
