Day camp fun over holiday break

The holidays are an excellent time for families to spend time together, but what happens after Christmas – when the kids are home from school and you are back to work? Macomb Family YMCA has plenty of fun planned to keep kids happy all break long at their day camp. Keep reading to learn more.

YMCA 2Day camp at the Macomb Family YMCA is a great place for kids to have fun, build character and community, and develop healthy lifestyle skills. It provides opportunities for children from all backgrounds to come together and build a supportive community while having fun! We provide the space for children to build relationships, try new skills and create lasting memories they will carry into adulthood.

This summer, we had a camper enroll who was brand new to our program. She came to us super outgoing and friendly but very afraid of the pool. Being that we swim daily during summer camp, this camper was determined to get into the pool and face her fears. With help from her counselors, she started slowly by entering the pool with a life jacket and hanging closely to her counselors. Day by day, she tried more and pushed herself further. This camper decided that she wanted to get into our camp swim lessons so that she could soon enter the pool with no life jacket and swim with her friends! After enrolling, she quickly adjusted to the pool and began feeling safe in the water. After a few short weeks, we had a deep-end swimmer on our hands! Our camper and her parents were so happy they even booked a trip to a water park! They have thanked us over and over again for helping her through this important lesson.

YMCA AThis holiday break, bring your child to the Y to experience all we have to offer! We will swim daily, enjoy the snow and play all sorts of age-appropriate games. We are pleased to offer a healthy breakfast and lunch to all participants at no extra cost to them.

The program runs from Dec. 26-29 and Jan. 2. We run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with before care starting at 7 a.m. and after care ending at 6 p.m. for no additional cost. Day camp is for children 3 years old and up.
